Practical Help for Your Family During the Coronavirus Pandemic

As the country finds its way halfway through the second full week of the coronavirus pandemic, Americans are still searching for a new sense of normal.

Long-established routines have been upended, impacting employment, school activities and many other facets of daily life. Anxiety and tensions remain high everywhere.

President Trump’s comments at yesterday’s White House briefing about a desire to “reopen” the country by Easter seemed to buoy spirits and provide the hope of a light at the end of a long, dark tunnel.

The expected passage of a congressional relief package has also seemed to stabilize the financial markets – but at this point, there are still more questions than answers. Nevertheless, we continue praying fervently for a breakthrough and a sudden and positive turn of the tide.

Our staff are working diligently from the safety of their respective homes so that Focus on the Family can continue to provide hopeful, helpful and practical content for you and your family.

These are not easy days, but it’s helpful to remember that sometimes very unexpected and unpleasant things happen in life that somehow move us in important and God-ordained new directions.

To put it simply, good things can come of bad circumstances.

For today, wherever you are, I want to make sure you’re aware of some of the resources Focus has for you and your family during this difficult time:

1.    The FOTF Daily Radio Program: We’re continuing to create new and relevant programming, which can either be heard on your local station or streamed online. Recent programs have included Dr. Francis Collins of the National Institutes of Health, Lee Strobel talking about trusting God in troublesome times and Dr. Dan Hinthorn, an infectious disease specialist and member of Focus on the Family’s Physicians Resource Council.

2.    The Adventures in Odyssey Club: Interested in gaining unlimited access to every episode of our award-winning children’s program? We’re offering a FREE 28-day trial membership. No credit card is needed. Invite your kids to join in a fun and value-rich escape by signing up today.

3.    Articles, Videos & More! We’ve set up a special web page housing easy links to helpful and practical articles and videos created by the ministry to help you and your family navigate through the coronavirus upheaval. With just a click of the button you’ll be able to gain access to online family devotions, lists of games and activities for kids and advice on how to talk to your kids about this crisis.

4.    Social Media Updates:  If you’re not already following us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram – why not? The team provides multiple updates per day, and you’ll inevitably find things on there you’ll enjoy. For example, we shared a link last night to a live hymn sing with our great friends Keith and Kristyn Getty. It was a glorious and God-honoring reprieve from all the mayhem of the moment.

5.    The Daily Citizen: With a team of writers reporting and filing news stories from a Christian worldview perspective every day, you’ll be informed, encouraged and equipped as developments unfold rapidly in the fight against the coronavirus, in addition to staying on top of other pressing matters regarding family and faith. Please check out the website or follow them on social media.

Much more is in the works, and we’ll be making exciting announcements in the coming days to tell you all about new developments.

For now, though, please let us know how we may be of assistance to you and your family. And please let me know in the comments section below how you and yours are holding on and holding up.
