VIDEO: When You Vote Life, You’re Voting for a Child’s Right to Dream

Dr. Tyler Sexton is a highly talented pediatrician with an unrelenting passion for helping children through their challenges.

Thankfully, there are a lot of physicians who fit that description – and your children may very well call one of them their personal doctor. But I suspect few have met anyone quite like my friend Tyler.

Born prematurely and not expected to survive, Tyler Sexton was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 18 months of age. Throughout the course of his young life, he endured 16 surgeries and countless setbacks. He longed to be just like the other kids – but he never was – and never would be.

“They said that if I did survive, I’d be blind and physically disabled,” he once wrote.

Yet, Tyler surpassed every expectation and grew determined to prove his detractors wrong.

“I’ve fallen and broken almost every bone in my body from attempting to walk,” Sexton said. “But I tried to walk because I didn’t want to be stuck in a wheelchair.”

A few weeks ago, as we prepared to head into the last month of the presidential election, I got to thinking even more about what’s at stake on November 3rd.

The fate and future of America is on the ballot, and specifically the issue of life.

How will we treat the most vulnerable? Will they be seen as dispensable or as unique and wonderful creations of the Creator?

I decided to call Tyler and invite him to record a commercial for us, specifically reminding people to VOTE LIFE in 2020.

It’s always a challenge to try and tell someone’s story in 30 seconds, but we were able to tell a little – and in Dr. Sexton’s own words.

The commercial you’re about to see will run tonight and Friday on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson and CNN’s Anderson Cooper shows. It’s our hope and prayer that reasonable people who are undecided might recognize that Dr. Sexton’s story represents what’s at stake when they go to the polls.

When you “Vote Life” you’re giving children like Tyler a chance to not just live – but also pursue their dreams – and help other people pursue theirs.

I urge you to thoughtfully and prayerfully prioritize the issue of life on November 3rd.

Incidentally, Tyler is also a motivational public speaker and a co-author with his mom of two books titled God Bless These Little Legs and No Such Thing as Can’t. I’m also grateful to him for the time he invests on Focus on the Family’s Physicians Resource Council, a group of highly talented doctors who advise the ministry on all matters medical. I encourage you to learn more about Dr. Sexton at his website:

Remember: VOTE LIFE!
